Among The Flowers
As a mother, I often reflect on how quickly time flies. One moment, my little ones are on my hip, and the next, they’re using shears to cut flowers themselves. Our recent ‘girls day’ among the blooms reminded me how fleeting these precious moments truly are. I cherished the simple joy of watching her carefully pick each flower and drop them into a bucket nearly her size. It's a beautiful reminder of how important it is to slow down and savor one-on-one time with your children, something we often forget to do.
If you’re looking to create similar memories with your little ones, here’s how you can plan your own flower field adventure:
The Adventure: Our adventure started with my daughter running through the flower fields, filling her bucket with vibrant blossoms of all kinds. Her excitement was contagious as she explored and found beauty in everything around her. We visited S.E. Daugherty & Sons Farm in Nashville, TN. - highly recommend - but you can go to any garden or park that will let you pick flowers!
The Creative Moment: We found a picnic table under a tree and transformed her freshly picked flowers into a beautiful arrangement. I helped her carefully place each one into her Flower Board Frame, and took the time to appreciate the beauty of each bloom. There's something always so special about connecting in nature like this.
The Activity: To cap off our day, we came home and painted the shadows of our flowers on paper, bringing our adventure to life, and reminiscing our day in the field. It’s a beautiful way to look back on and remember a day spent together among the flowers.
Materials: Flowers, scissors, watercolor paints and watercolor paper.
